Steve

Hi my name is Steve Smith, and I own and operate the Solaris 7 Roadshow.
I started out in the 70’s running my local youth club, using home built kit, and gradually expanding into local village discos around Waterbeach, and Cambridge.
A lot of the equipment I've used over the years, has been designed by myself.
Ranging from lighting effects & lasers, to complete music consoles.
Most of my current work, is in and around Cambridge, but I have worked as far as Bristol, and Kent.
After many years playing vinyl, and CD’s, I have now moved on to use digital music, and have an extensive MP3 music collection.
I am also a fully licensed digital DJ, and have Public Liability insurance, and all the required PAT certificates.
Over the years I have worked on live PA’s, as a sound engineer and lighting operator, for events, bands and even theatre.
I’ve worked for many of the Cambridge colleges, local companies, social clubs, hotels, pubs etc, supplying everything from Disco’s to full band sound systems, for local Cambridge bands.
Some of my sound engineering customers have included Gonville & Caius College, QAV(Ely), Cambridge Arts Theatre, and Jester Productions.
I have worked with Terry Jones of Jester Productions for many years on everything from Disco’s, College Balls, Fashion shows, and lighting rigs, to outdoor events such as Vibe FM's Sandstorm, Over Carnival, Shelford Feast week, Ely Boogie In The Park, Swavesey Festival, Landbeach Boogie Nights, and most recently the Yaxley Festival in Peterborough.
Recently, working with Terry, we lit up the whole of Netherhall School in Cambridge, for an open evening, with an extensive wireless controlled RGB lighting rig.
I've just designed a portable Gameshow control system, which can be set up in less than 10 minutes. For more information, take a look at the GameShow system page. There is also an external link to YouTube with some sample video's.
New update, I'm now a member of AmpDJ (Alliance of Mobile & Party DJ's).
